click to returnBritish standards Kitemark license & EN 1279In 2001 Leicester Glass appointed a consultant to assist us in our application to acquire a license to affix the Kitemark to our products. This we achieved and we became the proud holders of license No. KM59967. We continue to make the same quality units and clients correctly associate our investment in unit quality with our desire to offer the best possible products and services. Our units have been tested to the new European standard EN 1279 part 2 . BSI informed us that we were one of the first companies to achieve this. This new standard is now incorporated into the building regulations and our understanding is that it is mandatory for installers to use quality assured double glazed units from an approved manufacturer.
Click to returnFENSA Registered Company - 10627Leicester Glass became a FENSA (Click here to see the FENSA website) registered company in march 2002. We believe that FENSA membership allows our clients to feel confident in our ability to professionally service their needs. FENSA stands for the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme. It has been set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation, with Government approval, in response to the new Building Regulations for England and Wales (see our technical information page - Document L). From 1 April 2002, all replacement glazing in dwellings became within the scope of the Building Regulations. From that date on, anyone installing replacement windows or doors has to comply with improved thermal performance standards. When having their windows and doors replaced homeowners must now ensure that they get a certificate form Local Authority Building Control or have the work completed by a FENSA Registered Company. FENSA can be contacted by Email: enquiries@fensa.org.uk
click to returnGlass & Glazing Federation MemberLeicester Glass became members of the 'Flat Glass Association' over 30 years ago. Soon after, this federation became the Glass & Glazing Federation (Click here to see the GGF website) and we have remained active members since its foundation. The Glass & Glazing Federation remains the trade association for the Flat Glass industry in the United Kingdom. They advise government and other bodies on regulatory matters, representing their members and safeguarding their interests. Recently the GGF has launched an updated Customer Code of Practice. Leicester Glass has embrased this and signed up to it fully. There is really useful help and advise for consuners on their new website at www.myglazing.com. More specifically, the code and other informative documents can be downloaded here. The Glass & Glazing Federation is a valued source of information for companies and clients. Their membership vetting system is comprehensive and allows clients to be assured of a certain level of service. Customer complaints are professionally managed and member companies can be removed from the federation should they not achieve the necessary levels. Leicester Glass uses the codes of conduct, provided by the Glass & Glazing Federation, as their minimum guidelines. We use them for technical advise and gain important updates on all matters affecting our company and industry. The Glass and Glazing Federation can be contacted by Email : info@ggf.org.uk
